About Me—the Bibliophile
Hi! My name is Rachel Libke. Besides being a bibliophile, I am also a bibliophage, bibliotaph, bibliomaniac, and have been known to be a bibliokleptomaniac, so watch your books when I’m around.

Raindrops pattering on the window or snow swirling in the sky makes me feel more alive, and steaming cups of tea and coffee fuel my life. I am a hoarder of quotes, a lover of tattered well-loved books and shiny new ones, and—most importantly—a follower of Christ.

My fascination with books and words began at age two, when I eagerly devoured the first page of Dr. Seuss’s Foot Book. Literature became literally a part of me, and I have “reveled in pens and ink” ever since, like Jo March—devouring books and hoarding words greedily while accumulating massive library fines. (Seriously, I think the library owes me a wing or bookshelf by this time. They should at least consult me on book purchases.)

Now, at age 19, I’ve recently finished my BA in English through Thomas Edison State College, and am partly ecstatic to be done with tests and partly depressed that college classes aren’t free. Strangely enough, I truly enjoyed college despite the stress, because it involved reading and writing all day every day for school. (For the record, my favorite class was “Christian Fantasy” from BYU, which involved reading C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien for college credit. The final paper had something to do with the lasting effect of LOTR and I wrote myself into so many feels that I was sobbing unashamedly in the testing center. Thankfully everyone else was focused on their own problems and didn’t notice me.) If college classes were free, I would happily learn more about writing and the incredible literary masters of our world.

There are actually many things besides books and writing which I love. One is my family, and I love spending time with them hunting or hiking outside (accompanied by our two black labs). I also love watching movies, and my brother and I frequently hold quote wars, where one of us quotes a movie (striving as much as possible to imitate the tone and inflection of the actor) and the other tries to guess it.

About the Blog

Here, I share my love of authors from Austen to Wodehouse, and characters from Mike Mulligan and Anne Shirley to Samwise Gamgee and Hamlet. I'll post book lists, recommendations, reviews, and probably lists of words too because words are awesome. I have a weird joy in writing essays about books so those will show up here as well. I hope you enjoy wandering around my blog!
